How to access ribbon shortcuts
For these examples I am loaded into Word, but this method works across all Office 365 apps. In the web-based version of Office, the shortcut to access the ribbon is “Alt+Win”, in the desktop version it is just "Alt". Once you press it you will see letters appear over the ribbon. In the examples below I will be showing how to use it in the web based version, if you are using the desktop version substitute Alt+Win for just Alt.
At first it will just show the major tabs of word such as File, Home, Insert, ect.
You can press the corresponding key to switch to that tab. So, if you are on the Home page and need to quickly switch to View page, you press Alt+Win and then W.
If you select the tab you currently have open it will give you more options to choose from. In this next example we will go back to Home tab. Pressing Alt+Win and then H.
You can now see many more options to quickly select. If the item you need has two letters, type them in one at a time. For example, if you are looking to change the colour of your text press Alt+Win, H, F, C
Using the ribbon takes practice to become quick and easy. But the wonderful thing about ribbon shortcuts is you do not need to memorize any shortcuts (other than Alt+Win) because it lists all the letters for you. Once you start using it you will begin to train your muscle memory and be able to use Microsoft word like a seasoned pro.
